GO Clubbing In Sheffield

Clubbing in Sheffield The clubs and club nights in Sheffield attract not only the students and the locals but clubbers from the surrounding areas as well, so if you’re looking for a lively night where you can dance into the wee hours, there are plenty of options in this city.

If clubbing for you means underground dance music, then you need to head to Niche [map] on Sidney Street. Playing the best in speed garage, funky house and club classics, the resident DJs here really know how keep a crowd on the dance floor.

Dedicated clubbers may also be interested in the hard house sounds of the Insomniacz club nights at Club Uropa [map], or the Sunday night hardcore and Trance night, Uprising, at the Adephi.

For a more mainstream mix of dance music, you could try Kingdom [map], recently voted the UK Discotheque of the Year by the British Entertainment and Discotheque Association. Here you can expect to find yourself throwing your hands up to commercial dance amidst the video walls and state of the art lasers and lighting show. You should also keep and eye on the billings as The Club @ Kingdom often hosts live PAs from chart acts.

Alternatively, you could check out what’s on at the Adelphi [map] on Vicarage Road. This club is a local institution that helped to change the face of the clubbing scene in Sheffield, and although it’s a little out of the way, it’s worth it for the good night out. The original home of the Gatecrasher events, you can now expect a variety of club nights throughout the week, with dance music high on the agenda.

Gatecrasher now has its own venue in the city, Gatecrasher One [map] on Arundel Street, with the chance to party six nights of the week. The flagship night is Slummin’ with a 'wasted glamour fashionista with attitude' dress code and hip hop and R’n’B commanding the main stage. However, you’ll find Drum ‘n’ Bass, Jungle, Global House, and even some “credible” chart tunes all make an appearance throughout the week.

.Zero [map] (Dot Zero) is one of the top venues in the city with the Urban Gorilla night of cutting edge funk, breakbeat and house becoming increasingly popular. Although this venue is a little difficult to pinpoint , the club tends to attract older partygoers rather than students there for the breaks, beats, nu jazz, techno, electro music.

Takapuna [map] is a stylish restaurant, bar and club all rolled into one, a one-stop shop for a night on the town. There’s a club night here every night of the week, with an eclectic mix of music, hip hop, house, jazz, funk and R‘n’B all feature on the menu of this trendy club venue.

If you prefer the booty-shaking ambience of a hip hop/ R’n’B night then there are a few to choose from in the city. There’s Club Uropa [map] on a Friday night, The Q @ Club Element and it’s also worth keeping an eye on what on at Club Dot Zero [map]. However for a dedicated booty shaking venue try Orchis [map] on Carver Street .

Two of Sheffield’s most well known clubs, however are where you’ll find alternative music and indie club nights, namely The Leadmill and Corporation.

Opened in 1980 the Leadmill [map] has become an integral part of Sheffiled’s music scene, bringing music to the city when the scene really did look bleak. Now more than 20 years on, the club seems to be going from strength to strength attracting a mixed clientele of students and more mature music lovers to their variety of events throughout the week.

Meanwhile Corporation [map] on Milton Street is Sheffield’s home of rock and alternative music. Corporation is Britain’s third largest dedicated alternative club and this is where to come if dressing in black and listening to rock, metal, nu metal, indie, alt rock, ska, punk, hardcore, hip hop and big beat, is your thing.
