GO Budget Accommodation in Sheffield

Budget Accommodation in Sheffield Whether you’re in Sheffield for business or pleasure, if you don’t want to spend a fortune on a bed for the night then you still have plenty of choice in Sheffield.

Probably your best bet for a cheap room for the night is one of Sheffield’s bed and breakfast or guest house accommodation. Here you’re likely to get a comfortable bed for the night, with your first meal of the day thrown in for the price. Beighton Bed and Breakfast [map], Ivory House Hotel [map], which is particularly useful for lone travellers, and Coniston Guest House (S6 4HQ), which has ground floor rooms available, are all worth a try.

If you’re looking for a little extra grandeur for your money then you could consider booking your room at Wortley Hall [map]. This former ancestral home of the Earls of Wharncliffe, offers plenty of affordable bed and breakfast accommodation with 52 rooms on offer, many with en suite facilities.

Some people prefer the reassurance of a popular chain, when considering accommodation, and in Sheffield you’ll find several branches of the Travel Inn [map] chain. The one closest to the town centre is located on Angel Street (S3 8LN) and here you can expect simple but effective accommodation with prices charged per room rather than per person. There are also Travel Inns near the Hallam FM Arena on Attercliffe Common Road (S9 2LU) and close to the Meadowhall shopping complex.

With rooms also charged on a per room rather than a per person basis, the Garrison Hotel [map] in Penistone could be another affordable option, particularly if you are travelling in a group. All rooms within the stylishly refurbished walls of these 19th century barracks come complete with TV and radio, modem point, room service (not 24 hrs) and tea and coffee making facilities. The price also includes a continental breakfast.

If you’re in Sheffield over the summer and prefer the privacy of a single room at a comfortable price, contact Sheffield University to see what they have to offer. During university vacations the single rooms of Halifax Hall [map] are available to visitors and are located just two miles from the city centre.

If university vacations are not the ideal time for you, then you could opt for one of the youth hostels located around Sheffield. The hostels are located away from the city centre so visitors can take advantage of the countryside that surrounds the city. The two closest to Sheffield are Castleton and Hathersage, both located in Hope Valley.

Castleton [map] is a three star hostel that has plenty of facilities to cater for young people and families including, TV room, games room, cycle store and gardens, while the two star Hathersage [map] youth hostel is less family orientated with basic facilities but has great transport links for rock climbers. For more information go to the Youth Hostel Association website.
