GO Libraries in Nottingham

Libraries in Nottingham There are 20 libraries in Nottingham, the largest being the Central Library with 19 smaller community libraries spread across the city. A mobile library service is also available, which serves more than 30 locations in Nottingham.

You need to be a resident or student in Nottingham to join but membership is free to both adults and children and gives you access to a wide range of services, including books, videos and the Internet.

To join you’ll need proof of your address and Nottingham libraries accept a wide range of ID including a driving licence, utility bill, bank or building society statement.

Once you’ve got your library card you can make use of the wide range of facilities and services on offer at the city’s libraries.

Among other things you can borrow books, spoken-word cassettes, CDs and videos, find information for individual research, use computers with Internet and email access, and research your family history.

These include newspapers dating back to the 18th century, as well as books, maps and photographs to help you find out about the history of your family, a street, a district, landmarks and events.

The Central Library also has an arts section with videos, scripts, newspapers and family history material, along with a science and business department with business information for Britain and overseas.
