GO Comedy In Nottingham

Comedy in Nottingham Comedy clubs are such a hit with partygoers as they often offer the complete package of hilarious entertainment, a slap-up meal and a disco all rolled into one.

And if you’re planning an evening at one of Nottingham’s funny venues then you won’t be disappointed as the city has a good selection with regular appearances from top comedians.

For starters there’s Jongleurs at Castle Wharf [map] on Canal Street, which is part of the hugely popular national chain. Set in the former British Waterways Warehouse overlooking the canal, this well designed venue is open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday until 2am.

The Jongleurs chain has been around for the past two decades, and in that time has helped to launch the careers of many famous comedians including Rory Bremner, Graham Norton, Jack Dee, Harry Enfield and Lee Evans. These days, well known comics such as Ed Byrne and Dan Antopolski still appear here, along with stars from the next generation comedians.

Perhaps Nottingham’s best known comedy establishment, Just the Tonic [map] at the Cabaret Nottingham on Fletcher Gate, has been wowing the crowds for over 10 years. This place has been described as "the best comedy club in the country" by funnyman Johnny Vegas and regularly plays host to top names such as Tim Vine and Stewart Lee.

Other venues worth checking out include the Lakeside Arts Centre [map] on the University of Nottingham campus, which presents a number of touring comedy acts, and Nottingham Playhouse [map], which plays host to stand-up comedians such as Jeremy Hardy.
