City Travel in Nottingham

City Travel in Nottingham Nottingham has a wealth of public transport operating in the city centre, making it fast and easy for you to get to where you’re going.

For a start there is the new accessible and frequent NET tram service, which provides a connection to major leisure, retail and business areas and the main train station. The first phase of the route opened in March 2004 and goes from Hucknall through the city’s former mining areas to the city centre and back again.

Landmarks and tourist attractions that you can visit by using the tram service include the Theatre Royal, The Cornerhouse, Old Market Square, and the National Ice Centre.

There are 23 stops along the route with five Park and Ride sites, at Hucknall, Moor Bridge, Phoenix Park (near the M1 junction 26), Wilkinson Street and The Forest. The trams run about every 10 minutes.

The city’s bus service also offers you another frequent and reliable mode of transport to get to tourist attractions and surrounding areas.

Nottingham City Transport is the main bus operator in Nottinghamshire, with more than 300 buses providing a comprehensive network of services across the city, seven days a week.

Pathfinder and South Notts buses also travel beyond the city’s boundary to provide daily services between Nottingham and East Leake, Gotham, Loughborough, Newark and Southwell.

If you prefer to get around by taxi then fear not there are plenty of taxi ranks dotted around the city centre. There are two types of taxis in Nottingham; public hire taxis (black hackney cabs) can be hailed and stopped anywhere at any time, while private hire taxis must be pre-booked in advance.
