GO Clubbing In Norwich

Clubbing in Norwich With dance, indie, pop, old skool and R‘n’B playing every night of the week in the city’s array of nightclubs, it’s no wonder Norwich is the party capital of East Anglia.

Perhaps Norwich’s most well known club and certainly one of its most popular is Liquid Nightclub [map], which is located centrally on Prince of Wales Road. This place is home to the Ministry of Cheese every Friday night when the resident DJ pumps out the ultimate in pop and old skool music for the young, trendy clubbers giving it their all on the dance floor. Saturday night there’s a more chilled out vibe with R‘n’B and urban classics playing, while on Monday night it’s Carwash, where you can step back in time and strut your funky stuff to 70s tunes.

Just up the road from here is another of the city’s favourite clubs, the Mercy Nightclub [map], where you can relax to the smooth tunes of R‘n’B or dance the night away to club classics.

If you’re looking for a more intimate venue to catch up on the gossip long after the pubs have shut then head for Optic [map], which is also located on Prince of Wales Street. This ultra-trendy sophisticated club has a relaxed atmosphere so don’t go if you like to leap around the dance floor ‘til your head hurts! Be warned though the comfy sofas go like hot cakes so you’ll have to get in early if you want a seat.

For indie and dance music try Lock Stock Nightclub [map] on Dove Street in the city centre, a well established venue that gets packed to bursting at weekends.

Alternatively, you could head to East Anglia’s only superclub, Time [map], in the Riverside complex, which has a student night on Tuesdays with cheap drinks and commercial dance at the weekends. This place is a firm favourite with Norwich’s hen and stag crowds and the emphasis here is most definitely on having fun.

Other nightclubs that might be worth sampling include Po Na Na [map] on Bank Plain, with its North African vibes and funky house music, and Brannigans [map] on Riverside, a bar/club that plays cheesy 80s pop for an older crowd.
