City Travel in Norwich

City Travel in Norwich As one of the UK’s major cities, Norwich has a wealth of public transport operating in and around the city centre, making it fast and easy for workers and tourists alike to get around.

For a start First Norfolk and Norwich offers a frequent and reliable bus service seven days a week from surrounding town and villages into the heart of the business, shopping and sightseeing areas.

For more information on any of Norwich’s bus services log on to www.traveline.org.uk or call 0870 608 2608.

Of course, with Norwich being such a compact city, the best way to get around is on foot, which will also save you a few pounds, help you get fit and allow you to see the attractions at your own pace.

If you’re not feeling that energetic then you could opt for the door-to-door service of a taxi. Cabs are very easy to find in Norwich, especially in the busy shopping area and at the train and bus stations.

There are two types of taxis in Norwich; public hire taxis (black hackney cabs), which can be hailed and stopped anywhere at any time, and private hire taxis, which must be pre-booked in advance.

Selected taxi companies in the city centre area:
ABC Cars 01603 666333
Five Star Taxis 01603 455555
Carthbeam Taxis 01603 630488

For those who want to drive into the city, there are five park and ride schemes in operation, including ones at Postwick and Harford, where you can leave your vehicle at the car parks and take a short bus ride into the city centre.
