GO Restaurants In Edinburgh

Restaurants in Edinburgh There’s a wealth of exciting cuisine in Edinburgh. If you’re looking for a traditional taste of Scotland there’s some excellent restaurants offering classic dishes such as Scottish beef and the ever-popular haggis.

Whether you’re splashing out on an evening meal in a top restaurant or looking for a budget eatery, the quality always comes through.

Restaurants such as The Point [map], Bread Street, and Duck’s at Le Marché Noir [map], Eyre Place, top the league for providing that taste of luxury.

The coolest diners head to places like The North Bridge Brasserie in The Scotsman Hotel [map], and Bouzy Rouge [map], on Alva Street. Here you’ll find trendy surroundings and a wide choice of contemporary cuisine coupled with some fine classics.

For those who want something a little different there’s a wealth of European and Asian cuisine in the area.

Italian restaurants are in abundance with Santini [map] , Lothian Road, topping the bill for style and taste. Santini’s waiting staff wear Versace and Gucci and the fashionable spacious interior makes this an Italian restaurant apart. Owned by Gino Santini, who also has restaurants in Milan and London, this is definitely the place where the beautiful people of Edinburgh come to eat.

The city has strong links with Spain and the range of Spanish restaurants and tapas bars is extensive. If you’re looking for a romantic and intimate venue try El Sabor [map] in Stockbridge. El Sabor offers an authentic Latin American and Spanish taste and an impressive wine list.

Those on a budget are well catered for with venues such as Howies, of which there are four in Edinburgh, offering contemporary dining and an extensive wine list. Prices are low but there’s no compromise on taste and the Howies chain has gathered a strong reputation amongst those on a budget.

Vegetarians can choose from a range of restaurants but should definitely visit the famous Henderson’s Salad Table [map], Hanover Street. Henderson’s has been serving non-meat eaters and those looking for healthy alternatives for more than 40 years and is the last word in vegetarian cuisine. Offering a large range of home cooked food and gorgeous salads Henderson’s excellent reputation is well deserved.
