Gay Bars in Blackpool
|| Those looking for great
unpretentious camped-up fun will not be disappointed in Blackpool,
as the town is packed to bursting with drag queens and gay-friendly
pubs and clubs.
One of the biggest hits in gay Blackpool over the years is drag cabaret
show Funny Girls [map]
on Dickson Road. Of course, these days the audience is more hen
parties than gay couples but it’s still worth checking out if
you want a few laughs.
Situated next door to the Funny Girls’ establishment is Bar
, a large retro club, playing mainstream 80s and 90s music
to a fun-seeking mixed crowd.
The newest gay club on the block is Roxy's [map]
on Queen Street, which has a Gothic-style interior, sea views from
the balcony and attracts a fairly mixed crowd, including plenty
of drag queens.
Blackpool’s main gay street is Talbot Road, where you’ll
find an array of fun and stylish bars, including Pepe's Bar
a huge basement bar with a friendly atmosphere and good choice
Just down the road is Mardi Gras [map],
where local drag legend Stella Artois rules the show. This is a cool
bar with great disco music and cabaret entertainment every
night of the week.
Located next door to a hip-and-happening gay nightclub, The Flying
is situated near the end of Talbot Road. This place is usually bursting
at the seams with partygoers and has a more relaxed atmosphere than
some of the other gay bars.
And then you can head on to the 1,800 capacity superclub, The Flamingo
which has four floors and two large dance floors, and is open until
2am six nights a week. This place attracts an attractive young crowd
and plays great cheesy music.
